Miss Eco International Philippines Gabbi Carballo’s National Costume

Miss Eco International Philippines, Dr. Gabbi Carballo, as she showcases her stunning national costume at the Miss Eco International Preliminary Competition!

BENEATH OUR BLINDNESS

Inspired by the tragic Binaliw landslide in Cebu, this eco dress is a painful reminder that some disasters are not caused by nature alone — but by human neglect, indifference, and our failure to care for the Earth entrusted to us.

Made from discarded tarpaulin and aluminum foil, the piece transforms waste into mourning. The red mask symbolizes society’s blindness to environmental destruction, while the falling crimson tears grieve the irreversible consequences of negligence.

Embedded on the bodice are 36 red beads — each representing a life lost in the tragedy.

Yet amidst the sorrow, I carry a dove.

A symbol of hope.
A reminder that humanity still has the power to change before the Earth cries again.

This is not just fashion.
It is a warning.
It is a prayer for awakening.
